On April 1, 2021 FGI published the proposed Emergency Conditions Guidelines for healthcare and residential care facilities.
Recall, FGI formed an Emergency Conditions Committee last spring that focused on all kinds of emergencies, from COVID to hurricanes to polar vortexes and wildfires. Their findings were summarized in Doug Erickson’s “This Session is a Disaster” webinar back in January and the proposed new guidelines.
More information – including the link to free download of the white paper with proposed guidelines and a helpful tool for assessing response compliance at alternate care sites – can be found at Beyond Fundamentals Library – FGI. The document contains recommendations for both temporary and long-term solutions. The public comment period is April 1 through June 30, 2021.
The white paper is 700+ pages, so here’s where you’ll find the following:
- Proposed changes to risk assessment language in 2018 Guidelines: page 25
- Draft Guidelines for HC facilities: page 512
- Draft Guidelines for all outpatient facilities: page 588
- Draft Guidelines for residential care facilities: page 638
