Speakers will include Janet Brown, Director of Facility Engagement for Practice Greenhealth and Lauren Kleinman, Outreach Specialist for Healthiest Hospitals Initiative, along with a panel focusing on "How Non-Design Health Care Professionals Should Influence Building/Renovation Sustainability."

ISHE Scholarship Winner Announced
Congratulations to the 2013 ISHE Engineering Scholarship Award Southern District winner, Taylor Shake. Taylor is the daughter of Ron and Paige Shake of Sullivan, Indiana, where Ron works at the Sullivan County Community Hospital. Taylor will be attending Indiana University this fall to pursue a four-year bachelor's degree that would lead into optometry school. Helping others is a passion of Taylor's, and she believes that the field of optometry will allow her to reach that goal. She hopes to return to her community after receiving her college education and give back by opening up her own clinic.
The ISHE scholarships are available to the sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters of ISHE members who are attending college and majoring in an engineering or technology discipline. More information can be found at http://www.isheweb.org/education/scholarship-award-program/.
ASHE Conference Keynote: Moving Facility Managers From The Boiler Room To The Board Room
The keynote session at the ASHE Annual Conference, being held July 21-24 in Atlanta, focuses on the evolution of the facility manager and how facility professionals can shift from the boiler room to the board room. Jim Lussier, founder and president of the Lussier Center and former CEO of St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Ore., will challenge professionals to be leaders regardless of their job title. Lussier explains how personal accountability, open and direct communication, ethics, and bold goal setting can shape leaders and give them a stronger foundation for supporting their organizational missions in the face of change.
