ISHE Issues Honored for Innovation

Hybrid design improves member communication quality and frequency

The Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering's publication, ISHE Issues, was honored at the recent Indiana Society of Association Executives STAR Awards. The publication won the statewide award for "Best Newsletter/Bulletin" in the small association category.

"We're thrilled that ISHE Issues has been recognized," said Stephen Strawmyer, ISHE President. "More importantly, we're proud to deliver a publication that helps ISHE members to improve their facilities, their patient care, and their careers."

The innovative new format of email plus in-depth, magazine-format articles has allowed ISHE to build on the legacy of its long standing print publication, while increasing frequency. The net result is that members get more information, more often.

In addition, the new publication's green and budget-friendly approach has not only enhanced member benefits, but has also resulted in improved membership participation in ISHE state seminars, as well as the promotion and support of Midwest Healthcare Engineering Conference. As a result, the association been able to do more for its members – despite the challenging economy – and enhance its Gold Award standing with ASHE.

Steve Thurston, who created the ISHE Issues publication several years ago and continues to direct the publication content for the healthcare engineering community said, "While we are excited about the award, this is just the start. We plan to continually improve ISHE communications, making them essential to a successful healthcare engineering career in Indiana."

Call for Emergency Resources Information

Do you have "best practices" emergency resources data sheets or other information that you can share with other members? Help to elevate the emergency preparedness of the entire Indiana healthcare engineering industry by submitting your resource list, checklists, and ideas to ISHE at steve.thurston@escocommunications.com. Submissions will be placed in the member-only area of the ISHE website for download by ISHE members once we have accumulated enough resource submissions.
