With the integration of five key elements, the design and construction of the most complex perioperative projects will attain stellar results. What is it that qualifies as a "star" element in planning, designing and building an exemplary operating room? Let’s consider the process for existing hospitals in planning renovation or expansion of a perioperative area. This includes pre-op, holding, surgery and post-operative areas. First and foremost, it is crucial to consider the safety of the surrounding patient-occupied space. Whenever there is construction in or near patient care areas, the utmost caution must be exercised.

ISHE Summer Annual Conference Highlights and Survey Results
On August 21, 2009, ISHE summer conference was hosted by ESCO communications. See photos from the conference.
The morning session, Defining Priorities For Your Organization, introduced a proven methodology to building consensus and creating alignment within an organization. The process addressed a variety of priorities that healthcare facilities are faced with today and will be in the future (i.e. Facility Planning, Technology Planning & Integration, etc.). The Solutions Navigator™ game board was introduced and participants evaluated a set of healthcare facility needs and best practices based on their own perspective of their organization or one of their clients. See the summary and outcome of our Healthcare Facilities Navigation Exercise.
